Murray: Lashell's Baptism

About one month ago I added a random person on Facebook, Lashell Jones. I introduced myself to Lashell and told her that I was new to Murray, Kentucky. Lashell told me about her religious background and what not. I explained to her why I was in Murray and asked her if she had ever heard of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had heard of our Church but was not interested in having a lesson with us. While she said no to having a lesson she did say yes to receiving a copy of the Book of Mormon. However, in order to give her a copy of the Book of Mormon we had to meet at the chapel! Once we met her at the chapel she ended up staying just long enough for us to teach her about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Lashell immediately started reading the Book of Mormon and loved it! She found connections to the Bible and knew it was true.

Last Friday, July 17th, Lashell was baptized! I was honored when she asked me to baptize her and consider it a true miracle that I found her on Facebook. After her baptism, Lashell bore a powerful testimony and shared that she has never been happier in her life. I literally could see a difference in Lashell's life within one week of talking to her. Ever since accepting a copy of the Book of Mormon and hearing the message of the Restoration, her life changed for good! Lashell was nervous to meet other members of the Church and speak in front of them but after her baptism she just walked right up to the pulpit with confidence and the Spirit was so strong as she shared her testimony.  The Atonement of Jesus Christ changed her life. I am so grateful for Lashell and the opportunity I have to be an instrument in the Lord's hands during this time. These are exciting times! Lashell is already sharing the Gospel; she introduced us to her best friend and we are now teaching her too. People need relief from their burdens and a message of hope. Wow, I love the Lord and being a missionary!

"And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men." Moroni 7:29

Have a good week!

Love,
Elder Zwick
