CCM Colombia: Semana 1 & 2
Hola,
I’ve been at the CCM Colombia for two weeks now. It has been a wild ride! Everyday we wake up at 6:30 am and do personal study followed by Spanish class. We are literally in Spanish class all day! All those years of Spanish at East definitely did not pay off. Now I’m rethinking my decision not to take Spanish my senior year! But I am working hard. My testimony of the Book of Mormon and this amazing Gospel grows everyday through prayer, faith and searching my scriptures diligently. I have found peace in just having faith and giving this work everything I’ve got. It’s time to forget myself and go to work! My favorite part of this past week was when we were able to leave the CCM and go into Bogota to knock doors with the local missionaries. It was incredible to be out in the field! There is nothing better than walking down the street with a Book of Mormon in hand, wearing my missionary tag. My missionary tag has given me strength over the past two weeks; I wear it with pride! Right before I left my family to walk through security, my Dad quietly put something in my suit pocket. I reached in and found his missionary tag. I hurried back to give him one last hug, he told me to keep his tag as a reminder that he will be right there with me as I serve. Adjusting to the 6:30 am wake up call has been crazy! There have been a few mornings when I really did not want to get up. One of those mornings, I looked over and saw my tag next to my Dad’s. I decided that would be a day when I needed to wear his tag so I would remember the path he paved for me as a missionary. I am so grateful my Dad was inspired to give me his tag before I boarded that plane! It’s been a blessing to talk to the Fam on Google hangouts on P day. The CCM Colombia has limited computers and bandwidth so we only have an hour each Tuesday to respond to emails or talk to the Fam. Forgive me if I have not been able to respond to your emails, we all know my Mom would kill me if I did not call her! I have the best companion and roommates. My companion is Elder Redd; he speaks fluent Spanish and is a total stud. He has taught me so much already and is very patient with me when I try to speak Spanish. I’m in a room with eight Elders! We play basketball for our daily exercise and study together as a district. Thanks for your prayers and support! Read Ether 12 this week and just enjoy!
Mucho amor,
Elder Zwick
