El Monte: Cony's Baptism
Cony was baptized yesterday! The work of the Lord continues. Cony is amazing; I love her! She reminds me of my little sisters. We were so blessed to be able to hold her baptism yesterday despite the quarantine. We've been in quarantine for the past week but we are doing everything we can to continue the work. Sadly, I found out yesterday that all of the American missionaries will be evacuated from Chile over the next two weeks. It's difficult to put into words how I feel right now. How can I leave behind this important work, the Chilean people and this amazing country that I have come to love over the past nine months? I still remember when my dad told me just before I left on my mission that leaving Chile would be harder than leaving home. He was right. I told my mom this morning that I am not getting on that plane and I can just stay here and live with Hector!
However, just like Nephi, "I will go and do the things which the Lord has commanded, for I know the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he had commanded them." I Nephi 3:7
My heart will always be in Chile but I will continue to serve the Lord as His missionary wherever I am assigned. I love this Gospel; I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve in Santiago and to finally walk the same streets that my dad has talked about all these years. The streets are even better in person! I am going to keep focused on the work until they drag me out of Chile. Viki and Belen are ready for baptism! Viki could not get baptized because of her boyfriend living in the apartment but he finally moved out. We are seeing miracles everyday!
Love,
Elder Zwick
