CCM Colombia: Semana 6

Group #10 CCM Colombia |
It's crazy to think that almost six weeks have past since this picture was taken. Since my very first day at the CCM Colombia my hair has definitely gotten shorter, my pants have gotten looser but my Spanish has gotten better! On Sunday I bore my testimony in Spanish in our CCM sacrament meeting. It felt so amazing; I could hardly believe that the congregation actually understood me! I've definitely studied and read more in the past six weeks than I have in my entire life. I just finished reading the Book of Mormon again, cover to cover. I had to bust out my flashlight and read the last chapter in my bunk bed last night because I just had to finish.
On Saturday we rode a taxi into San Luis in North Bogota. We walked around, talked to people on the streets and knocked doors. There was one door we knocked on four times but no one answered. As we turned to leave I said, "let's just try one more time!" Sure enough, on the fifth knock, they answered the door right away and let us in. We ended up teaching four lessons on Saturday; it was so fun to speak Spanish and interact with the Colombian people. At the end of the day, when we were on our way back to the CCM, we passed a lady that my companion, Elder Connolly, felt strongly that we should go talk to. It was obvious that this lady was homeless, hungry and had a handicap child with her. Elder Connolly offered her a Book of Mormon and at first she said no because she told us she cannot read. We told her that she should keep the book anyway and she could look at the pictures in the front. I also gave her three Kinder Buenos which she may enjoy more than the pictures!
Sharing the Gospel and giving out the Book of Mormon is the best! I love it. I am so excited to get to Chile and to work in the field. Elder Connolly and I have had a blast! Not only do we dominate on the court but we also have so much in common. I have learned so much from him and I know he is going to do amazing work in Bogota South. Districto Alma is legit! Our district motto "Simplify, Intensify and Testify" from my Grandpa Zwick has kept us focused. I love my Spanish teacher at the CCM, he is such a stud. I'd like to say I'm really going to miss this place but let's be honest, I am ready to get to Santiago! I'm finally going to step foot in the city my Dad has been talking about for all these years. I can't wait! Love you all.
