Melipilla: Carlo's Baptism
Carlos was baptized on Saturday! Elder Staheli and I are so proud of Carlos. His daughter, Paola Urtubia, is a faithful member of our ward. She feeds the missionaries often and is the only member in her family. Because of her willingness to feed us weekly, we were able to develop a relationship with her father, Carlos. Paola told us she never thought her father would join the Church in his lifetime! He was a strong Catholic for his entire life but he began to feel the Spirit during our lessons and one day we went out on a limb and challenged him to be baptized. Paola about passed out when he said YES! I love their family; they truly are my Chilean family. My life has been touched by Carlos and his faith! On Sunday, I confirmed him in Sacrament meeting. It was a true miracle! I love speaking Spanish and the members of our ward; they are humble, faithful people. Elder Staheli and I are working hard, giving it our all. We walk all day and it's hot! Summer has arrived and I have never been so tan in my life. I am grateful for the days when people talk to us and are willing to listen to our message. There are a few days in between when not one person will listen. But in the recent words of Elder Holland, I'm going to keep "working my head off!" We were able to go to the Santiago temple this past week. It was incredible to be there! My favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon right now is Mosiah 3. Give it a whirl and it will help you get ready for the Christmas season! Hope you have watched The Christ Child video on churchofjesuschrist.org I love the end when Jesus is just standing there, smiling. Just enjoy!
Love,
Elder Zwick
