Murray: Cody's Baptism

Tomorrow is my one year mark on the mission! It's crazy to think that just one year ago I departed for the Bogota, Colombia MTC. Time really does fly! In just one year my life has changed forever. But the best news is that I still have one more year to go! I am excited to witness miracles for another year. My time in Chile went so fast and it's still strange, even after two months, waking up everyday in Murray, Kentucky!

When I arrived in Nashville on May 7th I had no idea what to expect. Everyone had told me about the city of Nashville but after ten minutes I was in a car headed hours away to my first area. No one even mentioned I could end up in Kentucky! I wondered how we were going to find people to teach without knocking doors and street contacting, like I did in Chile. I worried about how we were going to actually fulfill our missionary purpose. But I quickly learned that this is the Lord's work and it will prevail no matter what, even in a pandemic. My companions, Elder Mecham, Elder Kirkwood and Elder Fine and I have seen miracles over the past two months. We have found people who need the gospel of Jesus Christ just through calling random phone numbers from the phone book and messaging people on Facebook. Facebook has been instrumental in helping us invite people to come unto Christ. We have lessons every single day and the crazy part is that the investigators are coming to us! We have permission now to meet at our church building for in-person lessons as well. Only God's work could actually improve and become more efficient in a worldwide pandemic!

The highlight of the past month was Cody's baptism! Cody was baptized, received the gift of the Holy Ghost and ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood on the same day. We witnessed Cody gain a testimony through the spirit during this uncertain time; Cody needed the gospel in his life and the Lord helped us find him. We continue to see more miracles every day as we find new investigators, just like Cody.

It is comforting to know that we have a living prophet on earth today who reminds us that we literally can hear the voice of the Savior, if we listen. President Nelson says that we can receive personal revelation and know which path we need to take! I am grateful for revelation in my life. I seek personal revelation through prayer and reading the Book of Mormon. In the words of Elder Johnson, "We need to read the Book of Mormon every day, every day, every day." Don't miss a day! It isn't worth it. Give it a try and I promise you will be able to hear the Savior's voice through the Comforter, the Holy Ghost.

Life is good in Murray, Kentucky! Just enjoy.

Love,
Elder Zwick
