Maipu, Chile: Isai's Baptism

The work of the Lord continues in Chile! I'm truly grateful to be a missionary during this time and to represent my Savior everyday whether I'm in Kentucky, Nashville or Santiago. Jesus Christ is truly the Savior of the world. He lives! This is His church and He is working miracles. My companion, Elder Tello, and I are working like crazy. We are starting to see how much "the Lord loves effort" just like President Nelson said!

A few weeks ago we started teaching a part member family. They've been inactive for a few years and one of their sons had not been baptized. As we spent time with them, we taught the importance of eternal families and they remembered how true the Gospel is and how they felt when the Holy Ghost was in their lives. Little by little, the family decided together that they wanted to be active in the Church again and have their son, Isai, baptized. Truly it was a miracle to witness their reactivation and need for the Gospel in their lives. It felt like we were preparing an entire family for baptism, not just Isai.

Last Friday, Isai was baptized! He's ten years old and it was emotional to watch his older brother baptize him. His father spoke at the baptism and said that we showed up at the perfect moment for their family! It was a talk that I will never forget; the Lord confirmed through Isai's father's testimony that we are doing the Lord's work as missionaries. I am humbled to have been an instrument in the Lord's hand to help this amazing family come back to church.

Ether 12:12 "For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith."

Chile is the best! While it's a night and day contrast to Tennessee, I love it. We're in quarantine every weekend, doing church over Zoom but loving the empanadas, barking dogs and crazy bus rides all over the mission!

Love,
Elder Zwick
